Violin Lessons

Whether you want to learn Bach or Country fiddling music, our teachers are happy to help you become the violinist you want to be. Our violin staff will show you the fundamentals of sight reading, technique, theory but will also incorporate your favorite songs into your lessons.

Yes. Our instructors can teach classical violin and fiddle while also working on the foundations to help students be successful in either genre. Our instructors personalize lessons to match each student’s interests to keep them motivated!

Yes. Our violin instructors are all skilled musicians who are familiar with school orchestra music and can help students if they are struggling, or help them further their orchestral studies.

Yes. At the New City School of Music, violin lessons are available for absolute beginners all the way up to advanced students. Ages of our current violin students range from 4 to 80. We offer personalized lessons to help students reach their goals.

At your first lesson, your instructors will help in determining the proper sized violin for the student. As students grow, your instructor will inform you if a bigger violin size is needed to further progress.

Learning music is not just a matter of having a qualified teacher, but also an environment that is focused on music education. Our experience – and likely yours as well – is that in home lessons, while convenient, results in poor progress and meager results. Simply by being at home, kids mentally shift into an out-of-school mindset that makes motivation and concentration difficult. In a professional school environment a student cannot be distracted by T.V., pets, ringing phones, siblings or anything else. With only ½ to one hour of lesson time per week, a professional studio can produce better results since the only focus at that time is learning music. In a studio environment, the lessons are not just a hobby or side-line for the teacher, but a responsibility which is taken very seriously.
