Voice Lessons

From rock to pop, jazz to country, gospel to broadway, R&B, or classical we are sure to have a voice teacher that can teach you the singing style you want to learn! Voice students can expect to learn proper breath control, vocal exercises, ear training, and sight singing in addition to music theory, tone production and pronunciation.

Vocal students are encouraged to bring their favorite music in lessons to work on! Our voice instructors teach classical, pop, jazz, gospel, R&B, country and Broadway. Twice per year, our school offers FREE optional recitals with a professional accompanist for our students to perform in front of an audience of friends, family and teachers.

Yes. At the New City School of Music, voice lessons are available for absolute beginners all the way up to advanced students. Ages of our current voice students range from 7 to 80. We offer personalized lessons to help students reach their goals.

Yes – Our instructors are familiar with audition processes as well as what it takes to have a successful performance. In lessons, students will work on tackling their nerves, having stage presence, breath control, pronunciation, and pitch.

Yes – twice per year the school holds free recitals in its own recital hall. In addition, the school offers an optional ‘Destination Recital’ for students to perform at prestigious venues around the country.

Learning music is not just a matter of having a qualified teacher, but also an environment that is focused on music education. Our experience – and likely yours as well – is that in home lessons , while convenient, results in poor progress and meager results. Simply by being at home, kids mentally shift into an out-of-school mindset that makes motivation and concentration difficult. In a professional school environment a student cannot be distracted by T.V., pets, ringing phones, siblings or anything else. With only ½ to one hour of lesson time per week, a professional studio can produce better results since the only focus at that time is learning music. In a studio environment, the lessons are not just a hobby or side-line for the teacher, but a responsibility which is taken very seriously.
